We stay the first and last nights in a lovely airport hotel in Guatemala City, with free airport pickup. The next day we are taken to Panajachel, on the shores of Lake Atitlan for 5 nights. We stay in an excellent hotel, with pool, and view of the lake. During that time we’ll take a boat to Santiago for class and shopping among the indians, and we’ll also go to the colorful, special market of Chichicastenango. Bring an empty suitcase or buy a colorful dufflebag or two while there.
Next we go to the old, colonial, former capitol city, Antigua, for 5 nights. Our colorful hotel is quite lovely, with nightly music, an excellent restaurant, and a great patio for us to paint on. In the town center, the local indians are dressed in the attire of their village, featuring the most beautiful embroidering and weaving you’ll ever see, and available for purchase everywhere.
Included: transportation within Guatemala, all breakfasts and 6 dinners, room (dbl. occ), hotel tips and taxes, all excursions.
Not included: Transportation to/from Guatemala, meals not mentioned above, beverages other than water, travel insurance.

Guatemala is a land of volcanoes, cloud forests, coffee plantations and colonial cities. Rich in folklore and mystical Mayan villages, it is Guatemala's color and traditional culture that have beckoned artists to its varied landscapes. The vibrancy of the textiles still woven and worn by village women as they walk the hilly roads toting firewood or carrying their washing home from the lake, may become the subject of a painting or a photograph. Within this backdrop of picturesque, traditional cultures and natural beauty, our workshop highlights include stops in Guatemala City, Antigua, Panajachel, the colorful market of Chichicastenango, and Santiago de Atitlan.
